Our Compostable Dish Brushes are Made With

Bamboo

Bamboo is a fast-growing, renewable resource that’s strong, lightweight, and naturally resistant to moisture—making it ideal for durable, compostable brush handles.

Agave

Agave fiber bristles are plant-based and compostable, offering a range of scrubbing power from gentle to heavy-duty—depending on fiber thickness.

Coconut Palm

Coconut palm bristles are created using the long coir fibers extracted from the husks of the coconuts. They provide heavy-duty scrubbing power without plastic, and can be composted.

Directions + Care for your Compostable Pot Scrubber

How to Use

For daily use: Dampen the brush and swirl it across your solid dish soap, or add a bit of liquid soap to the bristles. Use your pot scrubber to tackle tough, stuck-on messes. After use, rinse the brush and place it in a dry, well-ventilated spot to allow the bristles to dry completely. Avoid letting it sit in water or on top of your dish soap.

To sanitize: Do not put it in the dishwasher—high heat and moisture can warp or split the wood. Instead, rinse thoroughly and soak the bristles briefly in hydrogen peroxide or vinegar. Shake out and let air dry fully. Condition the wood with olive oil or food-safe wood conditioner to prolong its life.

End of life: Once your brush has reached the end of its useful life, it’s easy to dispose of without guilt. Use pliers to remove the bristles if needed, then compost all parts. This dish brush will break down naturally over time in a home compost bin or pile—leaving nothing behind.

Your Questions, Answered

The Pot Scrubber combines medium sisal and stiffer agave fibers, giving it extra scrubbing power for baked-on messes and heavy-duty pans.

We don’t recommend it for non-stick or delicate cookware, since the stiff bristles may scratch. It’s best for cast iron, stainless steel, and tougher surfaces.

Our brush bristles are made from natural plant fibers like sisal and agave. You might notice a mild, earthy scent at first, but it fades quickly after a few uses.

Yes! Every part of our brushes—including the bristles—is compostable at end of life. To speed up the composting process, the bristles can be separated from the handle first.

With daily use and proper drying between washes, our compostable brushes typically last several months. Replace when bristles become soft or worn.

Rinse your brush well after each use and let it dry bristle-side down. You can sanitize it occasionally by dipping the bristles in vinegar or boiling water.

Yes, our brushes are safe for most non-stick surfaces. Always test gently on delicate cookware to be sure. For tougher jobs, use our Pot Scrubber.

Handy Tips + Tricks

Beyond the Dishes

Your brush isn’t just for dishware—use it to scrub your sink, stovetop, or counters (just test delicate surfaces first). One tool, many uses.

Sanitize Naturally

To freshen your brush, soak the bristles in white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes, then rinse and let dry bristles-down—easy and effective.

Condition for Longevity

Keep your bamboo handle looking its best by rubbing in a small amount of olive oil now and then. It helps repel moisture and extends the life of the brush.
