Care + Use

Directions for Use:

1. Wet your brush, cloth, or sponge.

2. Rub the Solid Dish Soap to build up lather. Apply gentle pressure to preserve the bar’s surface and avoid creating a dip at the center.

3. Wash your dishes as usual and rinse thoroughly with hot water.

For best results: flip the bar to a new side regularly and allow it to dry completely between uses. Use a soap dish with good drainage and airflow on all sides. Do not store your brush or sponge on top of the soap!

Frequently Asked Questions

about solid dish soap

Is it nut-free?

Yes! We use Soapberry powder (a natural detergent) to create the beautiful speckles. They are sometimes called Soapnuts, but are actually a berry. They're in the Lychee family, and fully safe for anyone with a nut allergy.

Is it coconut-free?

Unfortunately, we aren't able to make a coconut-free Solid Dish Soap. Coconut oil is a vital ingredients for creating a long-lasting soap with high cleansing properties and great lather. Our apologies! We wish we had a coconut-free option for you.

Can you make a sink full of sudsy water with it?

Yes! Simply stop up your sink, and run warm/hot water as usual. Hold a side of the soap under the faucet, and build up a lather using your hand or a brush. The bubbles will flow into the water and give you all the suds you need. Please note this will shorten the life of your bar.

Does it leave a weird residue on everything?

We worked really hard to formulate our solid dish soap in such a way that it doesn't leave a strange film on all your dishes! If you have hard water like we do, you know that even plain water can leave spots on your glassware. If there's anything we want to be totally spotless, we rinse in super hot water and dry promptly.

If for any reason you experience "grease spreading around", the solution is simple. Scrub a little longer with your soapy lather, and rinse more thoroughly with hotter water.

How does it compare to Dawn for cutting grease?

In our side-by-side comparisons, we've found our Solid Dish Soap to be completely on-par with Dawn in terms of grease-cutting. But if you need the convenience of a squeeze bottle for mobility reasons, or any other reason, you'll get zero judgement from us! We like to keep both types of soap on hand for different applications.

Remember: a soap molecule kind of looks like a tadpole and has two ends - the head is hydrophilic and the tail is hydrophobic, and it binds with the grease and oil to carry it away. If we don’t rinse thoroughly enough with hot water, we can accidentally smear those molecules around, which spreads all the grime that the soap has picked up for you.

If you want the full grease-cutting power our Solid Dish Soap can provide, just remember to follow the usage instructions and you'll be golden!

Will it dry out my hands?

No! This was one of the most important factors for us when developing Solid Dish Soap. We both have extremely sensitive skin (Hyper-mobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome makes our skin super fragile), and only a small countertop dishwasher. We spend a lot of time handwashing at the sink, and our soap is very friendly to easily-irritated skin. We attribute that to our specific blend of oils!

Does it work for hard water?

Yep! We have very hard water as well.

Is it septic safe?

Yes! It is biodegradable, phosphate-free, and made without the use of synthetic colorants or fragrances. It is septic-safe.

Good dish soap

I can tell it's going to last me awhile, especially because I went ahead and bought 3 bars! The scent is lovely and it has a lather that really cuts through grease. It does the job perfectly and my hands don't feel terribly dry after I use it.
